Based in the heart of Spinningfields, Manchester, Protector has experienced significant growth since launching in the UK in 2015 and continues to expand. Joining an established, high-performing underwriting team, you\'ll bring hands-on experience and genuine long-term career development within the insurance industry.
As Liability Underwriter, you\'ll join a well-established and growing insurance business, playing a key role in developing and expanding its Liability portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being active in the market, building strong broker relationships and making commercially sound underwriting decisions. You\'ll influence underwriting strategy and contribute fresh ideas to a business focused on growth and innovation.
Responsibilities of the Liability Underwriter:
o Underwrite new business Liability risks in line with underwriting guidelines and technical standards.
o Proactively develop and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities.
o Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, identifying opportunities to grow the portfolio.
o Actively trade with key brokers through regular meetings, visits, calls and presentations.
o Assess and underwrite Liability risks across a wide range of trades and industries.
o Apply technical knowledge of policy wordings, endorsements and coverages to deliver appropriate solutions.
o Analyse complex risk and claims data to make informed and profitable underwriting decisions.
o Maintain high standards of underwriting accuracy, pricing, risk selection and file quality.
o Identify opportunities to enhance the Liability proposition and support future product development.
o Work closely with Claims, Actuarial and Sales teams to deliver a responsive and professional service.
o Contribute fresh ideas and a commercially focused approach to growing the portfolio.
What we are looking for:
o Proven experience in Liability Underwriting is essential.
o Applications are welcomed from experienced Underwriters through to senior professionals capable of driving product growth.
o Strong technical knowledge of Liability insurance, including policy wordings, endorsements and coverages.
o Experience underwriting a wide range of trades and assessing complex risks.
o Proven ability to build, maintain and develop broker relationships.
o Confident trading and negotiation skills with a proactive approach to winning new business.
o Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret risk and claims information.
o Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high underwriting standards.
o Commercially minded, entrepreneurial and motivated to develop a profitable portfolio.
o Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
o Adaptable and forward-thinking, with an interest in new underwriting technologies and digital tools.
o A positive, proactive team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues.
