Associate Business Development Executive - Pensions
Location: Leicester / Hybrid
Salary: Up to £32,000
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
NJR Recruitment is delighted to be working with a growing financial services business who are looking to appoint an Associate Business Development Executive to join their pensions team in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a good understanding of pensions who is looking to develop their career in a commercial, relationship-focused environment. The role provides a structured pathway into a full Business Development Executive position, combining hands-on experience, mentoring, technical development and exposure to clients, advisers and internal stakeholders.
The Role
As an Associate Business Development Executive, you will act as a key link between the Business Development team and operational teams, taking new business cases from initial handover through to operational execution. You will work closely with Business Development Executives, Financial Advisers, clients, technical specialists, compliance and administration teams to ensure cases progress smoothly and efficiently. Alongside your business development responsibilities, you will also support the training and mentoring of the Onboarding Administration Team under the guidance of a BDE or Senior BDE.
Key Responsibilities
" Receiving new business cases from Business Development Executives and managing the conversion process
" Acting as a key point of contact throughout the onboarding journey
" Liaising with clients and Financial Advisers to gather required documentation and clarify technical information
" Reviewing cases to assess complexity and identify potential issues
" Working with technical and administration teams to resolve queries and progress cases
" Ensuring all onboarding requirements are completed, including AML checks, scheme transfers and investment setup
" Working closely with Compliance and Risk to ensure regulatory requirements are met before activation
" Maintaining accurate records of case progress and providing regular management information to the Senior Business Development Executive
" Monitoring outstanding actions and ensuring timely follow-up
" Identifying bottlenecks and suggesting improvements to the onboarding process
" Supporting the wider Business Development team with pipeline development and client engagement
" Developing strong relationships with Financial Advisers, clients and internal stakeholders
" Supporting the training and mentoring of the Onboarding Administration Team
About You
We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, proactive and keen to develop a career within Business Development and financial services. You will ideally have a good understanding of SIPP and SSAS products and be confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders. You will also have:
" Strong verbal and written communication skills
" Good organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
" A confident and proactive approach
" The ability to build positive relationships with clients, advisers and colleagues
" Good presentation skills
" An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret information and identify key issues
" The ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities
" A genuine interest in commercial and client-facing work
" A willingness to learn and develop your business development skills
Qualifications & Career Development
The successful candidate will be required to study towards Diploma Level 4 or CII R04, with full training and development support provided. Previous experience in a customer-facing, administrative or sales support role would be advantageous. Experience using CRM systems would also be beneficial, although a willingness to learn is more important.
This role is specifically designed to develop your commercial knowledge, relationship management skills and understanding of the Business Development function.
A key attraction of this role is the structured development pathway into a Business Development Executive position.
